Lipstick is probably my favourite makeup item to buy. It’s fair to say I have a slight obsession. I realised recently that I don’t have many “summer” shades and as the weather is getting warmer I had the perfect excuse to buy some! I do have a few oranges but they are all quite bright and I wanted something more subtle. Zoeva is a brand I have always wanted to try (I still have my eye on their brushes and eyeshadow palettes), so I decided to buy a couple of their Luxe Cream Lipsticks. As I wanted a daytime lip colour I chose two of the lightest shades “Easy Spirit” (on the left in both photos) and “Faith and Love” (on the right in both photos).
The Zoeva website describes Easy Spirit as a “soft beige pink” and Faith and Love as a “warm nude peach”. I would agree with both of these descriptions, although I do think Easy Spirit is slightly peachy as well. I am in love with the colour of Faith and Love, it’s so perfect for summer and great if you want a wearable orange lipstick. I found it more difficult to get on with Easy Spirit. The colour just looks too light on me when worn by itself. I have found a way to make it work though. I apply a layer of clear lip gloss over the top, which tones it down a little. I really like it when I wear it like this.
Finish and Longevity
As the name suggests, the lipstick has a cream finish and applies easily to your lips. The colour intensity is also great. Sometimes with lighter shades the colour does not show up on my lips, but this one was opaque with one swipe. Easy Spirit actually reminds me a little of Illamasqua’s Glamore Lipstick in Tease. There is no glitter in the lipstick, so the finish is not shimmery- just creamy. I also found the wear time to be good for a creamy lipstick. They last a good few hours on the lips without the need to reapply and the colour fades evenly.
I’m not someone who will buy a product based on packaging, but I am so impressed with the packaging of these lipsticks. They come in a cardboard box and the lipstick lid is magnetised, meaning it won’t fall off in your bag! The metal bullet feels sturdy and more expensive than it is.
Onto one of the best things about this lipstick! Each one costs £7.50 (so half the price of a M.A.C lipstick) and I think they are great value for money. The way the lipstick is packaged, even the weight of the bullet, makes it feel like a high end product. The pigmentation is also great for the price.
Overall I am very happy with my first Zoeva purchases. Although the shade Easy Spirit is a bit too light for me, I love the colour of Faith and Love and it is exactly the summery shade I was looking for. The lipstick feels comfortable to wear, with the cream finish and for £7.50 I think they are a bargain! The lipsticks are also free from animal derived ingredients. parabens and phthalates which I think makes them even better value for money! Have you ever tried the Zoeva Cream Lipsticks? Would you be tempted to buy one?
The Zoeva Cream Luxe Lipsticks cost £7.50 and are available to buy from Beauty Bay.
