I am a massive lipstick fan. I get more excited about buying a lipstick than I do any other beauty product. There are just so many different formulas and shades out there that I need to try! This does come with a problem though- I’m terrible at finishing a lipstick (I don’t think I’ve ever done it). I’ll use one a few times, put it in a bag and completely forget that I have it. I do however have a small collection that I wear regularly. These are the more neutral, daytime friendly shades and I’ll give you a rundown of my top 5 most used lipsticks. I have tried to represent the colour of the lipsticks accurately in the photos, but I would say they all look a tiny bit darker on the lips than the picture shows.
MAC Velvet Teddy (£15.50)
No points for originality here, but it really is the perfect daytime shade. I have written a full review on Velvet Teddy here.
This is the newest addition to my collection. It’s a combination of a lipstick and a lipgloss and the brown shade is perfect for daytime. It applies quite sheer but can be built up. For a glossy finish the wear time is pretty good and it’s comfortable to wear- it feels like wearing a lipbalm.
MAC Spirit (£15.50)
If you want to really go for the 90’s trend this shade is great. On me it’s quite a dark brown colour. I have a full review of Spirit here.
I don’t wear many pink lipsticks, but if I do I always turn to this one. It’s not too bright but it is a bit pink to be a “my lips but better” shade. The formula is moisturising and creamy and feels lovely to wear.
Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Minx (£19.50)
The most expensive lipstick on this list and it’s also my favourite. The formula and the colour are gorgeous. It’s described as a warm satin rose shade and although it’s the darkest shade in my top 5, it’s still very wearable.
So those are my top 5 most used lipsticks. Have you ever tried any of these? Which lipsticks would make your list? I’d love to know!
