This lipstick is actually my first MAC purchase. I had obviously heard loads about MAC by reading other blogs but I’ve always thought that £15.50 for a lipstick was a little expensive. I eventually gave in after reading countless good reviews and I am so glad that I did! The shade I went for was a pinky brown shade called Spirit. I think because I am quite pale it looks more brown on me, but it would look pinker on darker skin tones. Below is a swatch of the shade:
The main difference between MAC and cheaper brands is the formula of the lipstick. The MAC lipstick lasts for a long time on the lips, whereas cheaper lipsticks need to be reapplied more often. Spirit has a Satin finish, which for me is perfect, it’s not too shiny, not too matte, it’s somewhere in-between.
The MAC packaging is great, the simple black and silver bullet looks expensive and the lid feels secure (always important!). The only downside is that it is quite difficult to see which shade is inside without taking the lid off, this is not a problem for me yet, but if you own a lot of MAC lip products I can see it being very annoying!
Below is a photo of the lipstick on my lips and my bare lips for comparison:
Overall I love this lipstick and I am so happy I bought it. I have already worn it A LOT (as you can probably see in my photos) and I can see myself buying it again. It is the perfect neutral/ brown shade that can be worn day or night and I am surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned more often. If you are looking darker nude I would highly recommend this lipstick.
