I can’t resist a good make up sale, so when I saw one of my favourite brands Illamasqua had one I had to purchase a couple of items. The items I chose were an intense lipgloss in the shade ‘Facade’ and a precision ink eyeliner in the shade ‘Havoc’. I love the simple black and gold packaging of Illamasqua products, they all look so elegant.
I’ll start with the eyeliner. The shade is described on the website as aubergine but to me it is more burgundy. On my hand (as seen in the photo below) the colour looks almost black, but on the eyelid it does look slightly more red. I really like the colour because it is unusual, but subtle enough that you could replace your everyday black without anyone noticing a massive difference. The product is also very easy to apply, and that’s coming from someone who always uses pencil eyeliner over liquid. The brush is thin enough for precise application and I was able to create a cat eye flick fairly easily. The product is long-lasting and waterproof, I did the washing up with this on my hand and it still looked perfect! It will come off if you rub it after getting water on it though.
Next up is the lipgloss in the shade Facade. Illamasqua describe this shade as a grey pink colour, but I would say it was definitely more grey brown. I have been told that the shade actually makes my lips look a little bit blue, which is slightly unusual! The texture of the lipgloss is great, I don’t usually wear them because I don’t like the stickiness, but this one feels nice on the lips. The wear time is also very good for a lipgloss, although I haven’t actually worn this out, around the house it lasted for at least 3 hours. I also own another intense lipgloss in the shade Temper and the wear time is very good. The only issue I had with the lipgloss was the brush, which was pretty much rock solid when I tried to use it, but after wiping it on a tissue it softened up. Below is a photo of the lipgloss on my lips (right) and my bare lips (left) for comparision.
Overall I am really happy with my Illamasqua sale purchases, I can see myself using the eyeliner as a replacement to my usual black pencil quite often. The lipgloss I think will look great with heavier eye make up and I will look forward to trying it out. I must also give Illamasqua bonus points for their amazing delivery service. Delivery is free on all UK purchases and they provide you with tracking information that is constantly updated throughout the day of delivery. It also gives you an hour window in which to expect your delivery, which is great if you don’t want to wait in all day.
