For today’s post I have decided to write a review on the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in the shade Nude-ist. I’ve seen quite a few reviews on this lipstick from Bourjois and they have been mostly very positive so I gave in and bought one for myself. As you may be aware if you’ve read any of my previous lipstick posts I am a little obsessed with nude lips at the moment, so I had to choose the shade Nude-ist.
As you can see from the swatch above and the photo of the product on my lips below, the shade is actually quite pink and I’m not sure if the name Nude-ist really describes the colour very well. The swatch in store looked dark pink so I though it would be more subtle, but the shade is actually quite bright! I do like the colour and I am happy with it because I needed more pinks in my collection, but I think some people may be surprised at the brightness. I will say that the swatch above is more representative of the actual colour, the swatch on my lips photographed slightly brighter than it actually looked.
The main selling point to me, and the reason I decided to buy this lipstick was the formula. I heard about the creamy matt texture and I had to try it! I have to say after using it I am very impressed. It feels different to any product that I have and it is matt without being dry. After the lipstick is applied it sort of dries on the lips, but it’s never completely dry and has a very nice velvet finish. The wear time is also pretty good, it lasts quite a few hours without the need to reapply.
The product is fairly easy to apply. The wand provided is easy to use as long as you don’t load it with too much of the lipstick. Alternatively you could apply with your fingers for a more subtle result. I found that sometimes the finish wasn’t completely even, but most of the time it looked fine.
Overall I am impressed with this lip product and I love the texture and the finish. The shade Nude-ist is a nice dark pink colour, which on me is not quite a nude, but it may be on others.
Overall Rating- 7.5/10
