I have wanted a Zoeva eyeshadow palette for quite a while, after reading about how good the quality was for the price. I also bought a couple of Zoeva lipsticks (read my review here) and was impressed with how good they were. If you read a lot of beauty blogs then you may have seen some reviews of the Cocoa Blend palette. I knew I wanted it as soon as I saw it! The best place to get hold of Zoeva products in the UK is the online store Beauty Bay, unless you want to pay for shipping from Germany. As soon as they tweeted that this was back in stock I headed over to their site to purchase it.
The eyeshadow shades in this palette are inspired by a box of chocolates. The Zoeva website says that the palette contains warm truffle colours, delicate nougat shades and shimmery marzipan tones. Mmm I want some chocolate now! The shades range from the more neutral “Substitute For Love” and “Freshly Toasted”, which are perfect during the day, to the more shimmery, darker shades like “Infusion”. My favourites so far are “Pure Ganache” and “Substitute For Love”. Below are swatches of all the shades:
Finish and Longevity
The eyeshadows come in a range of finishes, so I’m sure there will be at least one that you will love! Again as stated on the Zoeva site the finishes are; matte, satin, metallic, duo chrome, pearl and matte with glitter. The only shades I’m not a huge fan of are “Bitter Start” and “Beans Are White” because the finish feels more chalky and less creamy than the others. As for longevity, I wore the eyeshadow without a primer and the colour lasted all day. It did gather slightly in the creases, but a primer might help with this.
Honestly this packaging is so beautiful! The gold and brown cardboard box looks like an expensive box of chocolates and I LOVE that each shade comes with it’s own name written next to it. Each shade is a generous size that will hopefully last for a long time. There’s no mirror on the inside like many eyeshadow palettes, but I never use those anyway, and I think it looks better without one.
The Cocoa Blend palette costs £15.50, which I think is very good value for money. You get 10 good quality eyeshadows that are a decent size. It works out that each one costs £1.55, a fraction of the price of a single MAC eyeshadow (£13) and the same size!
Overall I’m very impressed with my first Zoeva Eyeshadow palette. I can see myself using every single shade and the quality is amazing for the price. All I need to do now is get my hands on some Zoeva makeup brushes! Have you tried the Cocoa Blend eyeshadow palette? What do you think of the shades?
