After hearing a lot about Makeup Revolution’s eyeshadow palettes and being impressed with other Makeup Revolution products, I decided to try out two of their ‘Redemption’ palettes, Essential Mattes and Iconic 3.
The packaging for these palettes is simple but classic and unlike some other Makeup Revolution products it feels fairly sturdy. The black design with gold writing is attractive and the plastic window allows you to easily see the colours within the palette.
Below is a photo of the Essential Mattes Palette and swatches:
The colours in this palette are all matte (as the name suggests) and this means that they are a great selection of colours for daytime use. I have found myself wearing these with a brighter lipstick because they can create a subtle look. The colour pigmentation is good for the darker colours, but the lighter colours are a bit more difficult to build up, as you may be able to see in the swatches.
Next up is the Iconic 3 Palette:
I really like the colours in this palette, there is a great variety to create a lot of different looks. Other bloggers have pointed out its similarity to the Urban Decay Naked Palette 3. I do not own this palette so I can’t compare them myself, but from photographs the colours are certainly similar. Like the Essential Mattes palette the darker colours are more pigmented and easier to build up. I was also a little bit surprised by the second to last colour in this palette because it swatches darker than it looks.
Overall I think these eyeshadow palettes are great value for money, they only cost £4 each and you get good quality, highly pigmented shades that can be used to create many different looks. I slightly prefer the Iconic Palette because of the variety of different colours and finishes, but the Essential Mattes Palette is also very usable.
