So I’m starting a new series of posts on my blog called “Help I gave into the hype”. I don’t know about you but if I see a product mentioned a lot on other blogs I can’t stop myself buying it. Sometimes this works out really well and the product is totally worth the hype. Other times… well let’s just say I have a growing collection of disappointments. The first product I’ve decided to write about is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara. I remember this being mentioned as a cheaper alternative to the Benefit Roller Lash and I haven’t seen one bad review. View Full Post
I have always been a loyal pencil eyeliner user. When everyone was telling me to try liquid or gel, saying how much better they were, I would stubbornly defend my trusty pencil. So how was I converted? It wasn’t until a few weeks ago, when I was at Glastonbury Festival. My pencil got too warm in my tent, the top snapped off and it wouldn’t sharpen… Enter my sister’s gel eyeliner… She had been going on about it since she got it and I didn’t really listen to her, but my pencil was broken so I had no choice but to try it. I was so surprised at how easy it was to use. For some reason I thought that gel was the most difficult form of eyeliner to apply. Not true. It was actually much easier to get a thin line and my usual “cat-eye flick” looked more refined. Needless to say, as soon as I got home I took a trip to Superdrug and got my hands on my own gel eyeliner. View Full Post
I have wanted a Zoeva eyeshadow palette for quite a while, after reading about how good the quality was for the price. I also bought a couple of Zoeva lipsticks (read my review here) and was impressed with how good they were. If you read a lot of beauty blogs then you may have seen some reviews of the Cocoa Blend palette. I knew I wanted it as soon as I saw it! The best place to get hold of Zoeva products in the UK is the online store Beauty Bay, unless you want to pay for shipping from Germany. As soon as they tweeted that this was back in stock I headed over to their site to purchase it. View Full Post
I can’t resist a good make up sale, so when I saw one of my favourite brands Illamasqua had one I had to purchase a couple of items. The items I chose were an intense lipgloss in the shade ‘Facade’ and a precision ink eyeliner in the shade ‘Havoc’. I love the simple black and gold packaging of Illamasqua products, they all look so elegant. View Full Post
I have never really tried any non nail related products from Barry M, so I was interested to try one of their eyeshadow palettes. I chose to try ‘Starry Eyed’ because the packaging was a really nice purple colour and the eyeshadow shades were different to colours I already own. The palette is also limited edition.
The eyeshadow shades and blush come in cardboard packaging, with a mirror on the inside and two sponge eyeshadow brushes. The shadows come in a range of shimmer and matte tones and are accompanied by a golden pinky/coral blusher. View Full Post
After hearing a lot about Makeup Revolution’s eyeshadow palettes and being impressed with other Makeup Revolution products, I decided to try out two of their ‘Redemption’ palettes, Essential Mattes and Iconic 3.
The packaging for these palettes is simple but classic and unlike some other Makeup Revolution products it feels fairly sturdy. The black design with gold writing is attractive and the plastic window allows you to easily see the colours within the palette. View Full Post
