Back in June Latest In Beauty released the Glamour Summer Edit Box, which was one of my favourite ever beauty boxes. It contained a great mix of makeup and skincare products and was good value for money. It also allowed me to try the Pixi Glow Tonic, which helped me decide to buy the full size version. When I heard about the Glamour Beauty Power List Box and saw the products, I decided to treat myself. I’m trying to cut back on these kinds of purchases but it was my birthday last week so I think it’s alright… Anyway I’ll give you a quick overview of the products in the box and my first impressions of them.
Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick– I received the shade Gladiolus which I was a little disappointed with. I’m not a huge red lipstick wearer and this one is very bright! I wasn’t overly impressed with the formula either, the colour seemed to just sit on the lips, which meant it transferred easily. I haven’t tested its longevity because I haven’t had an occasion to wear the shade, but I can’t see it being very long-lasting. The product is full size though and worth £7.99.
Nails Inc Nailkale Superfood Base Coat– I love seeing these kind of products in beauty boxes. I enjoy trying things I’ve never tried before and the idea of kale in a nail varnish is interesting to me. I expected the colour to be slightly green but it applies clear. I can’t say whether it has strengthened my nails or not, but I am definitely going to keep using it.
KIKO Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush– KIKO is a brand I’ve heard good things about but never got around to trying, so I was pleased to see this blush in the box. Again I was disappointed by the shade I received, which was a bright pink shade- not me at all. However, the colour blended in very easily and gave a nice subtle flush. I would definitely try some other shades.
Eyeko Mascara– When I saw that this mascara came in either blue or black, I was hoping for the black (the last time I wore blue I also had a thing for blue eyeliner and orange foundation!). Luckily I did get the “Black Magic” mascara. I have tried this once and I wasn’t that impressed . The brush separates the eyelashes well, but I looked at my face halfway through the day and it had flaked under my eyes. First impressions don’t always count with mascara though (I didn’t like Maybelline’s Lash Sensational at first), so I will keep trying it.
Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish– I already have this nail varnish in the shade “Peachella” and I was impressed with the longevity for the price. Unfortunately in this box I received the shade Sweet Retreat which I think is a little summery for an Autumn box.
Skin and Haircare
Garnier Miracle Sleeping Cream– I haven’t tried this one yet, as I’m already using other moisturisers. It claims to intensely rehydrate skin and help with anti ageing. Anything that hydrates my dry skin sounds good to me!
Vita Liberata Self Tanning Night Moisture Mask– A Vita Liberata tanning bronzer was included in the Summer Edit Box and to be honest I never saw any tanning results. I’ve used this for a couple of nights and it does give a subtle glow, which I like. A £10 Vita Liberata voucher is also included in the box and I am very tempted to use it.
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer– Again I haven’t tried this yet, mainly because it takes a bit of effort to use. You have to apply it in sections and leave for 10 minutes before shampooing. I have heard good things about it though and will save it for a special occasion.
Overall I’m happy with the Glamour Beauty Power List Edit Box. I was a bit unlucky that some of the shades weren’t to my taste but I was pleased with most of the products. The only one I can’t see myself using is the lipstick. The formula and colour just aren’t right for me. I did prefer the Summer Edit Box, but this box has given me the opportunity to try a few brands and products I have wanted to try for a while. Have you bought this box? What do you think about the products?
