I love receiving beauty boxes. I’ve tried most of the boxes available and it’s nice to give a little present to myself each month. The problem with subscription boxes though is that you can’t choose the products you get. I have drawers full of unwanted moisturisers and hand creams, that I didn’t need and never got around to using. This is where Build Your Own Box comes in. It’s available from Latest In Beauty and you can choose to include 3, 6 or 9 products in your box, depending on how much you want to spend. I was sent 9 products to try, so I’ll give you a quick rundown of my first impressions.
Charles Worthington Leave In Conditioner 50ml I was a bit worried about trying this because you apply it to damp hair and just leave it. I thought it might leave my hair greasy but actually it did feel smoother.
Dr Organic Eye Serum 15ml This is the first of 2 Dr Organic products in the box. I can’t remember why I chose this because it’s aimed more at people with older skin and wrinkles. The product claims to leave skin plump, smooth and hydrated.
Yin Yang Gold Defence Lotion 10ml When I first tried this I hated it. The formula is very runny and I didn’t like the smell. However it absorbs into the skin instantly, leaving it matte, but moisturised. I took it with me when I went to Glastonbury because it’s good at protecting your skin when outdoors.
Bee Good Eye Cream 5ml I’ve never tried anything from Bee Good before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I do like this eye cream. It’s not as brightening as Benefit’s It’s Potent, but it does absorb into the skin quickly.
Urban Veda Toner 150ml I haven’t really tried any toners other than the Pixi Glow Tonic, which I love. On first impressions the Urban Veda toner feels nice on the skin, but I still prefer the Glow Tonic.
Rimmel Nail Polish In Gowild-er-ness Full Size I love the colour of this nail varnish, it’s a perfect shade for the summer. I was impressed with the formula too for the price. It dries very quickly and applies easily too.
Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner Duo 2x50ml It’s great that these come as a pair, because in the past I’ve received just a shampoo or just a conditioner which is a little pointless and doesn’t allow you to see how the range works. They are perfect travel size as well, which is why I’m saving them for my holiday.
La Roche Posay Redermic R 3ml Part of the reason I love beauty boxes is that you can try a sample of a more expensive product without wasting money on something you then realise you don’t like. I don’t really have any wrinkles yet, so I will give this to someone else, but it has a 5 star rating on the Latest In Beauty and Boots websites.
Dr Organic Dead Sea Mud Mask 100ml I used to love face masks when I was younger, you know, face masks and a sleepover. Now I mainly use sheet masks because they’re not as messy to use. I do like this mask, it smells lovely and left my skin feeling really soft, but it is a little messy to apply.
Overall I think the box is great value for money, you get 9 good sized products that you know you won’t be disappointed with for £16.99.
The Build Your Own Box is available from Latest In Beauty.
